Isa 66:1 Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? Isaiah 40:22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in God’s throne is just above or on the firmament, the earth is His footstool. Gen 1:20 KJV: “And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.” So the Sea above is on the outside of the firmament. Gen 1:10 KJV: “And God called the dry land Earth and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.” Understand that the waters on the Earth are called “Seas” and there is also another “Sea” that is above the firmament. According to Genesis 1:10, both the waters that were upon the face of the Earth and the waters which He placed ABOVE the firmament He called “Seas”. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which (were under) the firmament from the waters which (were above) the firmament: and it was so.” On the second day of the creation, the Lord God “divided” the waters (plural) of the great “deep” into two parts with a “firmament” separating them. Gen 1:6-7 KJV: “And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. Apostle Paul says there are three heavens. The creation of the firmament deals with the structure of our present heavens and Earth (Genesis 2:1) as opposed to the creation of the original heaven and Earth (Genesis 1:1). This verse says that the Sun, Moon, and Stars are “in” the firmament. And God made two great lights the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.” Genesis 1:14-16 KJV: And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And God separated the light from the darkness. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. Genesis 1:1-31 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the evening and the morning were the second day. And God made the FIRMAMENT and divided the waters which were under the FIRMAMENT from the waters which were above the FIRMAMENT and it was so. And God said, Let there be a FIRMAMENT in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. King James Dictionary – Firmament: Expanse or vault over the earth. It was the support also of the heavenly bodies (Genesis 1:14) and is spoken of as having “windows” and “doors” (Genesis 7:11, Isaiah 24:18, Malachi 3:10) through which the rain and snow might descend. The raki’a supported the upper reservoir of water(Psalms 148:4). It formed a division between the waters above and the waters below (Genesis 1:7). It is plain that it was used to denote solidity as well as expansion. We read of the sun rising and setting and the use of this particular word. They who rendered raki’a by firmamentum regarded it as a solid body. This word means “expansion.” It denotes the space or expanse like an arch appearing immediately above us. Firmament from the Vulgate firmamentum, which is used as the translation of the Hebrew raki’a. It is derived from the root raqa, meaning “to beat or spread out”, e.g., the process of making a dish by hammering thin a lump of metal. The word “firmament” is used to translate raqia, or raqiya` (raki’a), a word used in Biblical Hebrew.
